The official route of the 21st edition Pisa Marathon
There is only one month left for the start of the 21st edition of the Cetilar Maratona di Pisa, scheduled for Sunday, December 15, 2019. The event, organized by 1063AD, confirms, also this year, its strong international calling: almost 50% of subscribed athletes come from abroad. An important fact that, in line with the last year’s positive trend, gives us a portrait of an healthy and constantly growing Marathon.
THE ROUTE – We’re very close to the start of this 21st edition of the Cetilar Maratona di Pisa; and, less than a month from the event, the route of one of the last marathons of this 2019 has been officially defined.
Long straights and a fast and dynamic course is waiting for runners from all over the world, for a route able to reconcile the demands of speed with the possibility of admiring the historical and naturalistic beauties of a unique setting in the world.
Also this year, on the one hand, the competition will see professional runners and lovers of the race prove themselves on the 42 Km and 21 Km, one the other side families, children and amateurs will be able to participate to usual appointment with the Happy Christmas Family Run (3, 7 or 14 Km).
THE ROADS OF THE MARATHON – Piazza Duomo, this is the evocative scenery from which the Marathon and the Half Marathon will kick off. Start set at 09:00 am on Sunday 15 December; time limit to complete the course six and a half hours.
Heading out of the Square, the runners will continue along the city’s characteristic Arno river, then they head towards the coast, skirting San Piero a Grado with its impressive Romanesque Basilica.
At the 12.6 Km, the two races will separate: The Half Marathon will go back towards the finish line, while the Marathon will proceed towards the seaboard, crossing the Natural Park of San Rossore.
Halfway point of the Marathon in Tirrenia and return to the seafront, passing through Marina di Pisa, where the athletes will reach the 30th Km at the mouth of the Arno.
From here a long avenue of trees will lead the athletes over the last 10 km, until the arrival nearby the Tower, where they will cross the finish line.
